LIMF 2020 and beyond...

As we start to wrap things up for our 2020 virtual festival, our thoughts are turning towards 2021 and beyond. Read on for information on our upcoming participating ensembles, along with some tasters of what we can expect at future LIMF festivals.

Lastly, our Artistic Director, Prof. André de Quadros, has a message of thanks for everyone. See you in London in 2021!!

Dawon Orchestra, The Republic of Korea

The Dawon Korean Orchestra is a group made up of about 40 members, and was created to expand the base of Korean traditional music as well as to inherit and develop traditional art.

They play a leading role in the development of art culture based on deep sound and various technical performances that dig into the emotions of the nation. Every year, they conduct regular concerts, various small and large cultural and art projects, and international exchange and art projects.

Collegium Technicum, Slovakia

Under the direction of Music Director, Tatiana Svajkova, the mixed voice choir of the Technical University of Košice was founded in 1983. Today, Collegium Technicum is one of the top academic choirs in Slovakia and has been awarded numerous prizes at international festivals and competitions in Slovakia and abroad.

The choir has performed in 20 European countries, as well as Israel, South America, USA, Mexico and Thailand. During their 2007 concert tour of Mexico, an audience of 30,000 people attended their 16 concerts. The choir's most recent awards were two gold medals in the category of Mixed Choirs and Folklore a cappella at the 9th Grand Prix Thailand in 2016 with Marián Vach as a guest conductor.

Brockton School’s World Music Program, Canada

Brockton School’s World Music Program (WMP) has been performing locally and internationally for over a decade. The program has as its highest aspiration the fostering of a compassionate, global consciousness through the creation and performance of musical works. Over the years, students have given concert hall, educational, fundraising, and outreach performances in Canada, China, Greece, the US, Scotland, England, Austria, Germany, and the Czech Republic.

The WMP has collaborated with cultural groups from around the world, and has been recognised by the International Society for Music Education. The program passionately supports charities and not-for-profit organisations through musical performances, whether that be for an audience of 5,000 or a small gathering of volunteers.

In this video, they perform Who Do You Love. It gave us goosebumps. Brockton WMP - we can't wait to see your energy in person!!

Orchestre Français des Jeunes Talents, France

The OFJT (French Orchestra of Young Talents) brings together talented and passionate young musicians selected from national competitions and festivals throughout France. They represent the best in their age group with members ranging from 6 to 16 years of age. The young musicians are under the Artistic Direction of Mr Daniel Catalanotti, and Orchestra Conductor, Mr Guy-Bernard Davis.

Since its inception, the orchestra has worked on symphonic pieces as well as concerto repertoire possibilities for the excellent young soloists found within such a unique ensemble.

They have travelled internationally and performed in some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, with their most recent being the 3rd Festival of Sino-French Young Musicians in Changzhou, PR China in 2019.

This video shows their amazing performance at La Madeleine in Paris of the 2nd movement of Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake.
